According to the spokesperson of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Forest Department, in the Gahirat-Golin Community Game Reserve in Chitral, a Russian citizen, Andrey Zayka, hunted a Kashmiri markhor under a non-export trophy permit.
The spokesperson stated that the markhor’s horns measured 41 inches in length, which indicates the animal’s mature age and reflects effective wildlife conservation in the area.
Meanwhile, in Torghar district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Himalayan goral was hunted for the first time under an official non-export trophy hunting program, with an American citizen being the hunter.
According to the Wildlife Department, the decision for goral trophy hunting was made in February 2025.
The project is being carried out with the cooperation of the local population to reduce illegal hunting and provide benefits to the local community.
