The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has released its latest report on the damage caused by heavy rains and flash floods across the province since July 19.

According to the PDMA, 28 people have lost their lives and 29 others have been injured due to the rains and flash floods. A total of 47 houses were damaged, including 37 partially damaged and 10 completely destroyed.

The report states that the deceased include 10 men, 15 children, and 3 women, while the injured comprise 13 men, 9 women, and 7 children. Most casualties occurred due to collapsing roofs and walls of houses or people being swept away by flash floods.

The affected districts include Peshawar, Nowshera, Khyber, Mardan, Buner, Bajaur, Shangla, Swabi, Upper and Lower Chitral, Upper and Lower Dir, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Haripur, Upper Kohistan, Tank, Torghar, Kurram, North Waziristan, and South Waziristan.

PDMA said Rescue 1122, district administrations, and other relevant departments are actively engaged in relief operations and remain in constant coordination.

The authority has directed district administrations in the affected areas to accelerate relief efforts and ensure the immediate provision of financial assistance and relief supplies to affected families.

The Director General PDMA urged citizens to avoid unnecessary travel, stay away from vulnerable and tourist locations, and strictly follow official weather alerts and advisories.

PDMA also stated that its Emergency Operations Center remains fully operational, and the public can report any emergency situation to the relevant authorities without delay.
