Advisor to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Government, Barrister Saif, has emphasized the need for dialogue with Afghanistan to ensure lasting peace in the province.

Speaking to the media in Peshawar, he said that even local jirgas support negotiations with Afghan authorities as a critical step toward stability.

He proposed the formation of a joint jirga comprising representatives from the provincial and federal governments, along with tribal elders, to engage with Afghanistan on peace efforts.

Barrister Saif stated that sustainable peace in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, particularly in the merged districts, is not possible without Afghanistan’s cooperation. “Afghanistan plays a pivotal role in regional stability, and the country share over 2,200 kilometers of border with it,” he added.

He also highlighted that the provincial government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, is taking serious steps to restore peace. Local jirgas are currently being formed under the CM’s guidance and are expected to be finalized by next week. A grand jirga will then be convened to present comprehensive recommendations for lasting peace and development.
