Legal Action Ordered Against DPO South Waziristan as RTS Commission Hears Public Complaints
Peshawar: The Right to Public Services (RTS) Commission heard ten public complaints and issued key directives to ensure timely service delivery, including legal action against officials over delays.
The hearings were presided over by Chief Commissioner Muhammad Ali Shahzada and Commissioner Zakir Hussain Afridi, who reviewed multiple citizen applications.
In one case, a citizen, Ghulam Rasool, had approached the commission for police verification in South Waziristan. Although the service was eventually provided, the commission noted a delay beyond the legally prescribed timeframe.
As a result, the Regional Police Officer (RPO) Dera Ismail Khan has been directed to initiate legal action against the District Police Officer (DPO) South Waziristan and report back to the commission.

In another case from Mansehra, Sakina Bibi had filed a complaint regarding the registration of an FIR. Despite earlier instructions from the commission directing the DPO to personally hear the case and resolve the issue, no response was received within the stipulated time. Consequently, a show-cause notice has been issued to the DPO Mansehra.
Similarly, Abid Khan from Haripur had approached the commission for FIR registration. The commission has now issued a reminder notice to the DPO Haripur to ensure the case is registered without further delay.
The commission emphasized that public service delivery must be efficient and timely, stressing that access to basic services is a fundamental right of citizens.
It warned that negligence or delays in service provision will not be tolerated and directed officials to improve responsiveness and accountability in their respective departments.
