According to the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), heavy rains and flash floods that have continued across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa since 19 July have claimed 22 lives, injured 23 people, and damaged 37 houses in various incidents.

PDMA said the deceased include 9 men, 3 women, and 10 children, while the injured comprise 11 men, 5 women, and 7 children.

The authority reported that 29 houses were partially damaged, while 8 houses were completely destroyed due to the rains and flash floods.

The affected districts include Peshawar, Nowshera, Khyber, Mardan, Buner, Bajaur, Shangla, Swabi, Lower Chitral, Lower and Upper Dir, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Haripur, Tank, Torghar, Kurram, and North and South Waziristan.

According to PDMA, Rescue 1122, district administrations, and other relevant agencies are actively engaged in relief operations. District authorities in the affected areas have been directed to expedite rescue and relief efforts, ensure immediate financial assistance to victims, and provide essential relief supplies.

The authority added that water levels and flows in all rivers and streams across the province are currently within normal limits. However, intermittent rainfall is expected to continue through today, and all district administrations have already been placed on alert.

The Director General of PDMA urged citizens to avoid unnecessary travel, stay away from rivers, streams, flood channels, and vulnerable tourist destinations, and strictly follow advisories and safety instructions issued by government authorities.
