PESHAWAR: The Pakistan Army’s Corps of Engineers has accelerated relief and rescue operations in the flood-affected districts of Shangla and Buner in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

The ISPR stated that the Pir Baba Bypass has been reopened for all types of traffic, while debris clearance in Pir Baba Bazaar continued throughout the night to facilitate the public.

The statement added that the road leading to Gokand village has been cleared at three points after landslides were removed, and the Aluch Paran road has also been opened with the help of heavy machinery.

Urban Search and Rescue teams of the Pakistan Army, equipped with heavy machinery, are carrying out continuous search operations in Beshoni and Qadir Nagar. So far, five bodies have been recovered from a stream near Beshoni.

The ISPR affirmed that rescue and relief operations will continue until complete restoration of the affected areas.
