On the instructions of District Police Officer (DPO) Mardan, Masood Bangash, a transparent inquiry was conducted, following which eight SHOs involved in allegations of corruption, misuse of authority, and links with criminal elements were removed from their posts. In addition, a total of 124 police personnel were suspended and served show-cause notices.
This action was carried out in Mardan district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as part of an accountability and reform process within the police department.
Following the inquiry, after the allegations were proven, further action was taken, resulting in 12 personnel being dismissed from service and 19 personnel being compulsorily retired.
DPO Masood Bangash made it clear that under a zero-tolerance policy, indiscriminate action will continue against elements involved in corruption, misconduct, and illegal activities within the police force.
He stated that the accountability process is being further strengthened to make the police a public-friendly, transparent, and professional institution.
