Militants opened fire on personnel of the Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) near the Domel Adhmi Bridge area of Bannu, injuring two employees who were on duty at the time of the attack.
The injured have been identified as Abdullah Khan, a driver, and Noor Muhammad, a lineman. Both sustained bullet wounds and were shifted to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. Hospital sources confirmed that their condition is stable and they are out of danger.
According to sources, the attackers also attempted to abduct WAPDA Superintendent Murad Ali Khan, who was present at the scene. However, due to his resistance, the kidnapping attempt failed, forcing the militants to flee.
District Police Officer (DPO) Bannu Yasir Afridi said that a police party rushed to the spot soon after the incident. An exchange of fire took place between the police and the militants, following which the attackers managed to escape.
After the incident, security forces launched a search operation in the area to trace and apprehend the assailants, while investigations into the attack are underway.
