Two police officials were martyred in a gun attack in Lakki Marwat, while in Bannu, a suicide bombing and heavy exchange of fire targeted the Federal Constabulary (FC) Headquarters, prompting a major clearance operation by security forces.

According to details, in Lakki Marwat’s City Police Station jurisdiction near Mela Shahab Khel, unidentified assailants opened fire on police personnel Asad Khan and Samiullah as they were heading from Bego Khel village to perform duty. Both officials died on the spot. Their bodies were shifted to Government City Hospital for post-mortem.

Meanwhile, in Bannu, terrorists attacked the FC Headquarter located on Kohat Road. Reports indicate that the attackers rammed an explosive-laden vehicle into the FC Headquarter causing a powerful blast followed by intense gunfire. Due to security concerns, all routes leading to the FC Headquarter were immediately sealed off.

DIG Sajjad Khan stated that four to five terrorists managed to infiltrate the compound and were surrounded by security forces. During the operation, SHO Cantt Damsaz Khan sustained injuries.

Later, the outlawed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), through its Jabat-ul-Ansar al-Mahdi group, claimed responsibility for the attack, asserting in a statement that a car bomb had been detonated at the FC compound and that their fighters had entered the premises.

Security forces have cordoned off the area, and an exchange of fire is still underway. So far, four terrorists, including a suicide bomber, have been killed during the clearance operation.
