The provincial government’s efforts to rehabilitate the displaced people from Tirah Valley and provide them with basic facilities continue. To ensure timely and easy registration of the affected families, four additional registration points have been made operational, while the migration process is still ongoing.
Meanwhile, Assistant Commissioner Baraa, Talha Rafiq, stated that so far, approximately 9,000 families from Tirah Valley have completed their registration.
According to him, a total of 1,050 families were registered today at the four registration points established in Baraa, including 461 families at Takia Point Barkambar Khel, 257 at Qambar Abad Shalobar, 267 at Badshah Khan School Malik Din Khel, and 332 at Painda China Zakhakhel, while 866 families were registered at these points yesterday.
He further stated that new registration points have been made operational from today for the Kamar Khel and Adam Khel tribes to expedite the registration process further.
The Assistant Commissioner added that the main road from Lur Bagh to Painda China and Baraa in Tirah Valley has been cleared, snow removed, and the route opened for migration.
He said that vehicles faced difficulties at a few points between Lur Bagh and Painda China, but the district administration had deployed tractors and excavators to assist in removing the affected vehicles. All individuals and vehicles stranded due to snowfall have been safely evacuated.
In response to a question, the Assistant Commissioner mentioned that in view of the possibility of further snowfall, the deadline for migration has been extended to February 5.
He clarified that no one is being stopped by the district administration, and the migration process is continuing on a voluntary basis. Food is being provided to the displaced on the way, and a truck loaded with relief supplies has also been delivered to Lur Bagh.
Meanwhile, in view of the law-and-order situation in Tirah Valley and the increasing migration of affected families, a representative jirga was held in Baraa, chaired by former Federal Minister Hamidullah Jan Afridi. Political, social, and tribal leaders attended the jirga, which issued a unanimous declaration.
The jirga’s declaration demanded that complete and transparent registration of the Tirah displaced be ensured, political interference be stopped, and further migration be prevented.
The declaration also urged the government to fulfill its promise of the displaced returning from April 1 and to provide fair compensation for financial and human losses incurred during the operation.

According to jirga sources, a major meeting will be held on February 8, in which the future course of action will be announced.
