In Bannu, timely and effective retaliation by police thwarted two separate attacks by militants on security checkposts in the Sheikhlundik and Mazangah areas within the jurisdiction of Huweid Police Station.

According to police officials, militants attempted a coordinated assault, deploying a drone strike on the Sheikhlundik checkpost and using light and heavy modern weaponry in an attack on the Mazangah checkpost. The assailants specifically targeted police thermal camera technology.

However, police personnel acted swiftly, displaying professionalism, courage, and alertness in repelling both attacks. The police returned fire effectively, forcing the attackers to flee. As a result, no damage was reported to the checkpost structures, police equipment, or personnel.

Inspector General of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police, Zulfiqar Hameed, and Regional Police Officer Bannu, Sajjad Khan, praised the police team for their brave and timely action. 

They commended the officers involved and announced rewards for their performance, asserting that such cowardly attacks would not dampen their resolve.

Meanwhile, police have launched a search and clearance operation in the area to track down the fleeing militants and bring them to justice.
