In Landi Kotal, police have arrested three suspects in a crackdown on a group involved in extorting money from Afghan refugees at the Afghan Holding Camp through fake tokens.

According to details, acting on special instructions from District Police Officer Khyber, SHO Landi Kotal, Ishtiaq Shinwari, conducted an operation and exposed a group issuing fake tokens and collecting money from Afghan refugees under the pretext of registration and repatriation processes.

During the operation, the arrested individuals include Nemat, Sodees son of Zora Mir Shinwari, resident of Khogha Khel, and Nahal son of Akhtar Khan Shinwari, also a resident of Khogha Khel. Police have registered a case against the suspects and launched further investigation.

The SHO stated that indiscriminate action will continue against such elements in the camp who deceive helpless and innocent refugees and extort money from them. He added that the registration and repatriation process is being carried out transparently under official procedures, with no room for bribery or illegal payments.

Police have also appealed to Afghan refugees not to fall into the trap of unauthorized individuals, to wait for their turn, and not to pay anyone money. They were further advised to immediately report to the nearest police station if anyone demands money.

It is worth noting that a few days earlier, several similar incidents of fraud and illegal money collection were reported in Landi Kotal and the Afghan Holding Camp, leading to additional arrests.
