In Bara, elected chairmen of the Shalobar tribe have accused the police of adopting a failed strategy and displaying irresponsible behavior, which they claim has destroyed peace in the region, leaving the public gripped by fear and insecurity while innocent citizens are being targeted.

Speaking at a press conference at Bara Press Club, led by Village Council Chairman Jamil Maqam Afridi, chairmen Irfanullah, Muhammad Khan, Saleem Afridi, Dr. Ghulam Kabir, Javed Khan Afridi, Sultan Mir Afridi, and Azbar Khan Afridi stated that incidents occurring in the Shalobar tribe have become a daily routine, yet senior police officials remain silent spectators.

They said the burden of action against drug dealers has been shifted onto the public, while clashes and exchanges of fire between police and drug traffickers have disrupted peace in the area. Women, children, and the elderly are living in constant fear.

Chairman Jamil Maqam Afridi alleged that the arrest of a suspected individual was irresponsibly linked to the entire tribe in media reports, which he termed an attempt to malign the community.

He added that while they are not opposed to curbing narcotics, certain elements are using the campaign for personal gain, reselling seized drugs, and engaging in indiscriminate firing that endangers civilians.

The united chairmen further stated that night-time blockades and raids have made life miserable for residents, severely damaging public trust in the police.

They demanded the provincial government, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Inspector General of Police, and the Peshawar Capital City Police Officer take strict departmental action against the Khyber District Police Officer, SHO Bara, and DSP Bara, and immediately transfer them.

They reiterate that if their demands are not met, Shalobar representatives will continue their struggle for public rights on all forums.
