In Sawabi, SHO Abdul Ali made controversial statements regarding music at weddings and women going to markets alone, and he had also set a picture of the Afghan Defense Minister as his WhatsApp profile photo.

The District Police Officer (DPO) ordered him to remove the WhatsApp profile picture. However, the SHO refused to comply.

After videos of his statements went viral and he ignored the orders, police authorities directed him to report to the police lines, effectively removing him from his post.

According to police sources, a few days ago, videos of the SHO’s open court statements had also gone viral, in which he said that music would not be allowed at weddings in Sawabi and that women must be accompanied by men if they went shopping.
