The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast the entry of a western weather system into the country, bringing the prospect of rain and snowfall, while temperatures are expected to drop further over the coming days.
According to the PMD, fog is likely at a few places today in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa districts including Peshawar, Swabi, Mardan, Charsadda, Nowshera and Dera Ismail Khan.
In Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir, the weather is expected to remain partly cloudy. Islamabad is likely to experience cold conditions with partly cloudy skies, while Murree, Galiyat and surrounding areas are expected to remain dry and cold.

Dense fog is also expected in several districts of Punjab, including Lahore, Sialkot, Narowal, Sheikhupura, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Jhelum, Faisalabad, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Bahawalnagar, Okara, Sahiwal, Multan, Dera Ghazi Khan, Kasur, Khanewal, Khanpur, Kot Addu, Layyah and Bhakkar.
In Balochistan, most districts are likely to experience cold weather with partly cloudy skies, while fog has been forecast for Sukkur, Rohri, Shikarpur, Kashmore and Mohenjo Daro.
Meanwhile, in a weather advisory, the PMD said the western winds will enter Balochistan on December 19, after which rain is expected in Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir from December 20 to 22, with snowfall likely in upper areas.
Heavy rainfall has also been forecast for Islamabad and Rawalpindi during this period.
