A crucial jirga of tribal elders, notables and local leaders was convened in Miranshah under the supervision of the Pakistan Army in light of the recent security situation in North Waziristan.
General Officer Commanding (GOC) Miranshah welcomed the participants and paid tribute to the sacrifices and role of tribal elders in restoring peace to the region.
During the jirga, detailed discussions were held on law and order in North Waziristan and Bannu, ongoing counterterrorism efforts, and welfare projects underway in the area.

The GOC highlighted evidence of Afghan militants’ involvement in recent terror incidents and stressed that lasting peace is only possible through a coordinated response from the military, civil administration and the public.
Tribal elders presented their suggestions for strengthening peace and assured full cooperation with state institutions to overcome security challenges.
