The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued a weather advisory forecasting rain with thunderstorms in most districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and snowfall in upper areas.

According to the PDMA, rainfall is expected in various parts of the province from tomorrow night through Tuesday, while mountainous regions may receive snowfall.

The authority stated that upper districts including Abbottabad, Haripur, Mansehra, Upper and Lower Chitral, Upper and Lower Dir, Swat, Buner, Malakand, Battagram, Shangla, Upper and Lower Kohistan, and Kolai-Palas are likely to experience rain accompanied by thunder and snowfall over the mountains.

In the plains, including Peshawar, Mardan, Swabi, Nowshera, Charsadda, Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber, Orakzai, Kurram, Kohat, Hangu, Karak, Bannu, North and South Waziristan, Lakki Marwat, Tank, and Dera Ismail Khan, intermittent rainfall is also expected.

In view of the anticipated weather conditions, the PDMA has directed all district administrations, Rescue 1122, and relevant departments to remain on high alert and take precautionary measures in advance.

Due to rain and snowfall, there is a risk of road closures and slippery conditions in upper areas including Naran, Kaghan, Kalam, and Chitral.

The PDMA has advised tourists to avoid unnecessary travel to upper and snow-affected areas and to adopt precautionary measures.

Citizens have been urged to remain in safe places during storms, thunderstorms, and snowfall. Farmers and livestock owners have also been advised to take necessary steps to protect crops and animals.

According to the department, continuous monitoring of streams and rain-fed channels will be carried out in sensitive areas.

The PDMA’s Emergency Operation Center is fully operational, and the public can contact the free helpline 1700 in case of any emergency or for information.
