The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has warned that most districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are likely to experience heavy rainfall with thunderstorms from April 2 to 4, which may lead to flash floods and rising water levels in various areas.

According to PDMA, heavy rainfall is expected in most districts, including Bannu, Lakki Marwat, Hangu, Kohat, Orakzai, Kurram, Khyber, Peshawar, Nowshera, Charsadda, Mohmand, Malakand, Mardan, Swabi, Upper and Lower Dir, Shangla, Swat, Upper and Lower Chitral, Dera Ismail Khan, Haripur, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Battagram, Kolai-Palas, and Upper and Lower Kohistan.

The agency warned that due to heavy rainfall, the water level in the Kabul River and its tributaries could rise. In view of this, flash flood warnings have been issued to the administrations of the concerned districts.

PDMA stated that districts such as Swat, Chitral, Dir, Bunir, and Shangla are particularly vulnerable to flash floods, where low-lying areas could experience flooding.

The provincial authority has instructed district administrations to remain alert in low-lying and sensitive areas and to take preemptive measures to deal with any emergency situation.

PDMA also urged people living along the Kabul River to stay cautious and adopt safety measures, while district administrations have been directed to ensure timely relocation of populations at risk to safe locations.

Additionally, farmers and livestock owners have been advised to move their animals to secure locations. People are also urged to avoid unnecessary movement in low-lying areas to prevent potential damage.
