Pakistan has allowed the clearance of World Food Programme (WFP) containers bound for Afghanistan on humanitarian grounds, sources confirmed on Wednesday. The containers were cleared from Karachi through PKG International Company and are expected to reach the Torkham border later today.
To ensure timely and transparent clearance, customs staff have been deployed at Jamrud NLC in Kohat and at the Torkham border. Upon arrival, PKG International’s representative, Fayyaz Shinwari, will oversee the clearance process alongside customs officials to facilitate the smooth transfer of relief goods into Afghanistan without delay.

It is noteworthy that the Torkham border remains closed for pedestrian movement and trade. However, as a gesture of humanitarian support and goodwill, permission has been granted today for these aid containers to cross into Afghanistan.
It remains to be seen whether Afghanistan will formally accept the consignment under the WFP framework. The move is being viewed as a reflection of Pakistan’s policy of humanitarian cooperation and regional goodwill.
