Rising tensions between the United States, Israel, and Iran in the Gulf region have once again turned the joy of a hardworking Pakistani family into tragedy.

Ismail Saleem, a resident of District Kurram, who had been living in the United Arab Emirates for the past decade to support his family, fell victim to the ongoing global conflict.

Ismail’s journey abroad for employment spanned many years. He had moved to Dubai ten years ago in search of work and would return home occasionally to visit his family.

However, his most recent stay proved to be the longest separation for his loved ones. For the past year, he had been continuously working in Abu Dhabi and had not been able to meet his six daughters and four sons. He had planned to save more money and return home soon, but circumstances did not allow him that chance.

According to his cousin Ikram, who spoke to TNN, Ismail was working as an electrical wiring assistant in a cable company.

“We received information from sources there that a ballistic missile was intercepted mid-air in the Bani Yas area of Abu Dhabi. Unfortunately, debris from the missile fell on him, and he died on the spot. We have not yet informed his children and family, fearing they may not be able to bear the shock.”

Pakistan’s Ambassador to the UAE, Shafqat Ali Khan, has confirmed the incident and expressed condolences to the bereaved family. He stated that arrangements for the repatriation of the body have been completed.

The deceased’s body will arrive at Islamabad Airport today and will then be transported by ambulance to his native area. His funeral prayers and burial will take place in District Kurram.

Defense experts say that direct confrontation between Iran and Israel, along with the involvement of the United States, has significantly heightened security concerns in the Gulf region.

Debris from weapons destroyed mid-air by missile defense systems often poses a deadly risk to civilians on the ground.

The death of Ismail Saleem is yet another tragic consequence of the evolving geopolitical and military situation—one that reflects a painful reality not just for a single family, but for society as a whole.
