A local religious scholar was shot dead while two others were injured in a firing incident within the jurisdiction of Pishtakhara Police Station in Peshawar.

According to police, the attack occurred when Maulvi Izzatullah was travelling in a vehicle along with his companions when unidentified assailants opened fire on them.

The attackers fled the scene immediately after the firing. Police cordoned off the area and began collecting evidence, while a search operation has been launched to trace and arrest the suspects.

Police officials added that the injured were shifted to a hospital without delay, and investigations have been initiated from multiple angles.
