The provincial government will not abandon the people displaced from Tirah and will provide them with all possible facilities. Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sohail Afridi, made it clear that eliminating terrorism is essential; however, military operations are not a permanent solution to any problem.

The Chief Minister said that all political parties and different schools of thought in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa agree that decisions made behind closed doors will not yield results if imposed on Tirah.

He added that if the provincial government had been taken into confidence, consensus-based decisions could have been made by taking the nation along.

Sohail Afridi said that the tribal people have made countless sacrifices for the country and have always stood on the front lines in difficult times.

He noted that despite 22 major and 14,000 small operations, if peace still cannot be guaranteed, then the current strategy requires serious review.

He said that for the past 75 years, an organized mindset has been working against Pashtuns, especially the tribal people, to prevent them from becoming part of the mainstream system.

He added that after becoming an elected Chief Minister, misleading and negative propaganda was launched against him, but with public support, every negative narrative was defeated.

The Chief Minister said that he has promised to give his people pens instead of guns and wants sustainable peace through education, awareness, and development.

He said that the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are peace-loving and are ready to make every sacrifice for the complete eradication of terrorism.

He further said that Imran Khan has given people enough awareness to clearly distinguish between truth and hypocrisy, which is why the public is now rejecting all negative propaganda.

He expressed these views while presiding over a jirga of elders and notables from Khyber district, where the law and order situation in the district and the problems faced by families displaced from Tirah were discussed in detail.

During the jirga, tribal elders presented suggestions regarding the restoration of peace and the dignified relocation of Tirah affectees.

The Chief Minister directed the relevant authorities to provide immediate relief and all possible facilities to the Tirah affectees and to resolve their issues on a priority basis.
