The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has approved Rs50 million for organizing co-curricular competitions in 28 settled districts and an additional Rs100 million for inter-school sports tournaments at the provincial level to promote educational and extracurricular activities.
According to the Finance Department, a formal directive has been issued to the State Bank of Pakistan to ensure the timely release of funds.
The letter specifies that the funds allocated for sports and co-curricular activities will be distributed equally among all districts. However, schools in Peshawar, Mansehra, Mardan, and Dera Ismail Khan will receive the highest share of funding.
The Finance Department stated that these initiatives aim to encourage a spirit of healthy competition among students and to highlight their hidden talents through constructive and engaging activities.
The government hopes the allocated funds will not only expand sports and co-curricular opportunities but also contribute to the character-building and positive development of the youth.
