Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi on Wednesday strongly condemned the alleged manhandling of the PTI founder’s sisters by Punjab Police, stating that violence against women is unacceptable under any circumstances. He also termed the allegations levelled against Imran Khan’s wife, Bushra Bibi, as deeply regrettable.

CM Afridi further denounced the alleged manhandling of provincial minister Meena Khan and expressed concern over the potential arrest of MNA Shahid Khattak and other lawmakers. He said that democracy, the Constitution and the rule of law had been “practically buried” in the country.

He warned that the situation was being pushed towards a dangerous direction, adding that if matters continued this way, neither the so-called “women card” would work, nor would any moral or democratic values survive.

According to him, the situation had been taken to a point where “a return now appears almost impossible.”
