Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: The Bomb Disposal Unit (BDU) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has released its annual report regarding explosive materials recovered and neutralized during the current year. According to the document, security agencies across the province defused numerous bombs, hand grenades, and other explosive devices.
The report states that 35 Improvised Explosive Devices (IED) were defused across the province this year, while 72 IEDs were used in explosions. Similarly, 247 hand grenades were neutralized, whereas 133 hand grenades exploded in various incidents.
According to the document, 70 rocket shells were defused, while 68 rocket shells were used in explosions. In addition, 7 landmines were neutralized, while 2 landmine explosions were reported.
The report also mentions that one suicide jacket was defused, while 11 suicide bombings were recorded.
In Peshawar district, 7 IEDs were defused, 2 explosions occurred, and 16 hand grenades were neutralized. It was also noted that 21 hand grenades were used in explosions in Peshawar.
In Bannu, 12 IEDs were defused, while 31 IED explosions were reported. In the same district, 41 hand grenades were neutralized and 14 rocket shell explosions occurred.
In Bajaur, 14 IED explosions were reported, while 29 hand grenades were neutralized. The document further states that 9 hand grenade explosions and 17 rocket shell explosions also took place in Bajaur.
In Dera Ismail Khan, 28 hand grenades were neutralized, while in Kohat, 24 hand grenade explosions and 8 rocket shell explosions were reported. According to the report, a total of three explosions were recorded in Mardan, including one suicide bombing.
The Bomb Disposal Unit stated that operations to neutralize explosive materials are continuously underway to ensure the protection of public life and property.
