Under the “Pak Saaf Pakhtunkhwa” vision, practical steps have been initiated across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to improve cleanliness and sanitation at the grassroots level. The provincial finance department has issued a notification for the release of funds to relevant authorities for the sanitation program.
According to the notification, a total of Rs1,414.628 million has been released as an additional budget grant in accordance with the decision taken during the 36th meeting of the provincial cabinet held on August 12, 2025. The allocated amount will be utilized for the sanitation campaign in village councils from October to December 2025.
The released funds will cover salaries of sanitary workers, fuel, and maintenance costs of loader rickshaws. Among the districts, Peshawar, the province’s most populous district, has been allocated Rs127.113 million. The funds will be transferred directly to the specific bank accounts of village councils in each district.

The finance department has directed that subsequent installments will only be released upon submission of actual progress reports on fund utilization every three months.
Provincial Minister for Local Government Meena Khan Afridi said that the sanitation process is being extended down to the village council level to ensure transparency and efficiency. She added that the cleanliness campaign is actively underway through village councils across 28 settled districts of the province.
Meena Khan Afridi also appealed to the public to actively participate in sanitation efforts at the local level to help realize the vision of a truly “Clean and Green Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.”
