Keeping pace with modern requirements, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police has established a formal and organized drone unit for unmanned aerial surveillance for the first time in the country.

With this initiative, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has become the first province in Pakistan where drone technology has been formally incorporated into the policing system.

According to police officials, the aim of establishing this new unit is to ensure effective and timely monitoring of sensitive buildings, large public gatherings, and difficult mountainous areas.

Through drones, aerial footage and video recordings will be transmitted directly to the control room, enabling authorities to assess situations quickly and make timely decisions.

Officials say the system will also be an important development for counterterrorism operations. Due to the challenges of ground surveillance in remote and hard-to-reach areas of the province, aerial monitoring will help track the movement of suspected individuals and support more effective operational planning.

In addition, monitoring crowds during religious processions, protest demonstrations, and political gatherings will also become more efficient.

Aerial surveillance will provide the police with better awareness of ground conditions, making it easier to maintain law and order.

Police authorities say that special personnel have been formally trained to operate drones, analyze data, and maintain the equipment.

These trained officers will be deployed in different districts so that aerial surveillance can be conducted immediately in any emergency.

Experts believe that this modern system can also prove extremely useful during natural disasters such as floods and landslides.

Drones will help identify people trapped in affected areas, assess damage, and make relief operations more effective.

This initiative by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police is being described as an important milestone toward modern policing.

If the project proves successful, it is likely that other provinces in Pakistan will also establish similar aerial surveillance units, which will further improve the performance of law-enforcement agencies.
