A young man, Ziauddin, who had arrived in Pakistan from Italy, was shot dead by his father in Bajaur, family sources confirmed. His funeral prayer was offered at 9 a.m. this morning in Tehsil Mamund. Ziauddin was scheduled to return to Italy next week.
According to family sources, Ziauddin was the second among five siblings. After completing his early education, he moved to France at a young age and later settled in Italy, where he obtained citizenship.
His cousin, Mir Aman Khan, told TNN that Ziauddin had returned to Pakistan in March 2025 on an out-pass, as he did not wait for the completion of the full legal process. He was married in April, but disagreements with his parents over financial matters began to surface a few months later.

Sources said that Ziauddin had been trying to return to Italy for the past two months, but Pakistani authorities did not allow him to travel abroad on an out-pass when he attempted to leave via Islamabad Airport on 25 October and 1 November. During this period, he had moved out and was living separately from his parents.
According to his cousin Mir Aman Khan, on Thursday, a minor verbal dispute escalated, resulting in Ziauddin being shot dead by his father.
He added that he had met Ziauddin three days earlier, when Ziauddin told him that his paperwork issue would soon be resolved and that he planned to return to Italy.
The incident has left the area in mourning. Police have launched an investigation into the killing.
