Social activist Jemaima Afridi has claimed that she received threats after demanding justice over the alleged murder of her cousin, urging authorities to conduct a transparent and impartial investigation into both the killing and the alleged intimidation.
In a statement shared on social media, Afridi said violence and killings of women are often dismissed as accidents or suicides, preventing victims' families from receiving justice.
She alleged that her cousin was shot four times but that efforts were being made to portray the death as an accident.
"Can someone being shot four times be called an accident?" she asked, questioning the official narrative surrounding the case.
Afridi said that since childhood she had heard of numerous cases in which the deaths of women were attributed to bathroom falls, falls from stairs, suicide or accidental firing, while proper investigations were rarely carried out.

She further claimed that after visiting her cousin's home with her mother, the two were stopped on their way back by an unidentified man whose face was covered. According to Afridi, the man allegedly threatened her, saying, “Get yourself in line, otherwise I'll deal with you.”

Afridi said she was shocked by the incident and did not respond to the alleged threat at the time.
Later, in a post on social media, she wrote: “If anything happens to me, it will neither be an accident nor a fabricated story. Those threatening me cannot stop me from speaking the truth.”
She called on the authorities to launch a fair and transparent investigation into her cousin's death as well as the alleged threats against her, and to bring those responsible to justice.
