In the Nowardakhel area of Lakki Marwat district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, an explosion occurred on a private cement factory bus, resulting in the death of one person and injuries to nine others, including two women.
According to police, the bus was carrying factory workers. The injured were immediately taken to a nearby hospital, while the police cordoned off the area and launched an investigation.
Terrorism incidents have escalated in Lakki Marwat over the past three days. On Monday morning, members of the Bigokhel Peace Committee were targeted with an IED.
The committee members were traveling to Lakki Marwat city in a cement factory bus when they were targeted near the Nowardakhel turn with an IED. One person was killed, and a total of nine people, including two women, were injured.
After targeting the peace committee members, a firing exchange broke out between the police, the peace committee, and unknown armed individuals in Sheikh Kalla within the jurisdiction of the Lakki Marwat Saddar police station.
Initial reports indicate that one police officer was injured and was immediately transferred to Government City Hospital Lakki Marwat for medical treatment.
A day earlier, three traffic police officers were targeted in Sarai Naurang, resulting in the deaths of Incharge Jalal Khan, Constable Azizullah, and Abdullah.
Yesterday, the TTP abducted a shepherd named Jalil along with his livestock near the hilly area of Paharkhel Pakka, Lakki Marwat.
In response, the Khiro Khel Public Peace Committee detained the father of a TTP worker and sent a clear message that the abductors would be responsible if the shepherd was not released.
Under this pressure, the TTP released Jalil along with his livestock. Later, through a local Jirga, the father of the TTP worker was also released.
Previously, in Bannu, local residents had used the same approach to ensure the release of a police officer by detaining the father of a TTP worker.
