Peshawar: Charge Nurse Shakeela Naz of Hayatabad Medical Complex (HMC) alleged during a press conference at the Peshawar Press Club that she was subjected to harassment, faced multiple inquiries after refusing to comply, and had her salary suspended.

Shakeela Naz said she has been serving at HMC for the past 18 years and is facing retaliatory actions for speaking out against alleged illegal activities. She claimed that illegal private abortions were being carried out in the hospital's gynecology unit. She also alleged that placentas and the bodies of prematurely born stillborn babies were being sold to China.

She further alleged that after raising these issues, she was transferred to the Directorate General (DG) Health office, subjected to multiple inquiries, and has not received her salary for several months. According to her, she approached the court and obtained relief, but the hospital administration has not implemented the court's orders.

The charge nurse also named certain administrative and medical staff members of HMC, accusing them of harassment and involvement in the alleged illegal activities.

She appealed to the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Chief Justice of the Peshawar High Court, the Chief Secretary, and the Provincial Health Minister to order a transparent investigation into her allegations, provide her with protection, restore her suspended salary, and take legal action against those found responsible.

It is important to note that these allegations were made by Shakeela Naz during a press conference. At the time of reporting, neither Hayatabad Medical Complex nor the individuals named in the allegations had issued a response.
