A police team came under heavy fire in Majoki, Charsadda, on Monday night, leaving Head Constable Fasihuddin martyred and Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Qaiser Khan critically injured.
According to District Police Officer (DPO) Charsadda Waqas Khan, police carried out a raid to arrest wanted suspects based on intelligence information. The suspects opened indiscriminate fire and managed to flee. Following the attack, police launched a search operation in the area and multiple raids are being carried out to trace the culprits.
The martyred officer, Head Constable Fasihuddin, son of Umar and a resident of Dargai, was the father of three children. His body was shifted to Police Lines Charsadda, where funeral prayers were held at midnight before burial in his ancestral village Dargai.
ASI Qaiser Khan, son of Umara Khan and a resident of Rajar Mohallah Salarzai, sustained serious injuries. After initial treatment at District Headquarters Hospital Charsadda, he was shifted to Lady Reading Hospital, Peshawar.
DPO Waqas Khan said the suspects were from Peshawar and had been residing in a rented house in Darab Majoki. He added that the sacrifice of Fasihuddin is a testament to the courage and commitment of the police force, but also reflects the grave dangers officers face in the ongoing fight against criminal elements.
