The German government has announced the immediate termination of its Afghan refugee admission program, citing serious security concerns and the involvement of Afghan migrants in criminal activities, according to international media reports.

As part of the decision, Germany has refused entry to an additional 640 Afghan refugees, while the Interior Ministry confirmed that prospects for any further Afghan admissions have now been completely closed.

German authorities stated that the move was taken in response to growing public safety risks and a reassessment of the country’s migration and asylum framework.

Meanwhile, the international community has also scaled back diplomatic engagement with Afghanistan, largely due to the Taliban’s hardline and extremist policies, which have raised concerns over human rights and regional stability.

According to reports carried by Arab media outlets, Germany deported Afghan nationals in connection with 28 criminal cases in 2024, followed by 81 deportations linked to criminal activity in 2025, underscoring Berlin’s tougher stance on law enforcement and immigration control.

The decision marks a significant shift in Germany’s asylum policy and reflects a broader tightening of refugee admissions across parts of Europe amid rising security and political pressures.
