Flour prices have once again increased in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, mainly due to disruptions in the supply of wheat and flour from Punjab.
Over the past week, the price of a 20-kilogram flour bag has risen from Rs2,200 to Rs2,400.
According to the Flour Mills Association, disruptions in the transportation of wheat and flour from Punjab have forced mill owners to purchase wheat at higher prices, which is directly affecting flour prices.

The association said that wheat production in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is insufficient to meet the province’s demand, therefore large quantities of wheat are imported from Punjab.
The provincial government has urged the federal and Punjab governments to remove obstacles in wheat transportation to prevent further increases in flour prices.
