While the questions of how Humaira Asghar died — or who, if anyone, may have been involved — remain unanswered, investigators now believe they may have a clearer idea of when the tragic incident occurred. According to DIG South Asad Raza, the actress may have passed away in early October last year, as inquiries continue into the case.

Speaking on a private TV channel, DIG Raza explained that the odor from a decaying body typically lingers for 5 to 40 days. However, during this period, none of the neighboring flats were occupied, which may explain why no one noticed anything unusual.

He noted that the flat adjacent to Humaira’s had also been vacant, and an open bathroom window in the next room may have allowed the odor to escape, preventing it from drawing attention inside the building.

DIG Raza added that the apartment’s management committee, watchman, and neighbors will be included in the investigation. He also mentioned that Humaira Asghar often traveled between Karachi and Lahore, possibly leading people to believe she was simply away.

Investigators believe the incident likely took place on October 7, 2024. Three days later, the building’s watchman reportedly tried to call her but received no response. One of her friends also attempted to reach her after that date, again without success.

Humaira was ultimately found dead in her apartment on July 8, when a court bailiff arrived following the landlord’s petition over unpaid rent. With no response at the door, it was forced open, revealing her body inside.

A preliminary post-mortem report stated that the body had reached the final stage of decomposition, suggesting that Humaira Asghar had died nearly eight months earlier.
