In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Dera Ismail Khan district, following a tragic shooting incident, police took action and killed the main suspect, Zulfiqar Marwat, in an alleged police encounter.
According to the district police spokesperson, the incident occurred in Chori Bhor village of Proa tehsil, where 6 people were killed and 2 others were injured.
Initial reports suggest that elders of the Ustrana tribe had gone to the suspect in the form of a jirga over a dispute involving a snatched motorcycle, where the suspect opened indiscriminate fire on them.

After the incident, on the instructions of the District Police Officer, a search operation was launched in the area under the leadership of SP City Murtaza Khan, along with DSP Proa Saleem Khan Baloch and SHO Samar Abbas.
According to police, upon receiving information about the suspect’s presence, a raid was conducted at a hideout where Zulfiqar Marwat and his accomplices opened fire on the police party. Police retaliated, resulting in the suspect being killed.
Police stated that after the firing stopped, the suspect’s body was recovered from the scene along with a Kalashnikov and a motorcycle, while operations are ongoing to arrest other suspects.
According to the police spokesperson, security in the area has been tightened and measures are being taken to bring the situation fully under control.
