In the village of Wadi Kamar, Union Council Khushhal Garh, Tehsil Gambat, Kohat, seven laborers were killed and one injured when a landslide occurred in an illegal gold mine.

The incident took place while local individuals were engaged in mining without legal permission and proper safety measures, when suddenly a large portion of the mountain collapsed and fell into the mine.

Upon receiving the information, Rescue 1122 teams, along with heavy machinery, reached the site and began a rescue operation to retrieve those trapped under the debris, which continued for several hours.

Rescue officials managed to pull out the injured laborer, Riaz Ali, alive and immediately transferred him to a nearby hospital, where his condition is reported to be out of danger.

According to rescue authorities, the seven laborers trapped under the debris could not survive. Their bodies were recovered and handed over to their families after legal procedures. The deceased include Talat, Fayyaz, Abid, Daniyal, Sabir, Faraz, and Faizan, all reported to be from the village of Parshai.

Police and administration officials stated that the incident occurred due to illegal mining, violation of safety regulations, and excavation without approval from relevant departments. The Gambat police station has launched an investigation, while the district administration is considering action against those responsible.

It is worth noting that the district administration had already imposed a ban on gold mining in Kohat, yet illegal mining continues at some locations.
