Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sohail Afridi continued his sit-in outside Adiala Jail on Thursday after being refused permission to meet former prime minister Imran Khan. A large number of MPAs and party workers joined the chief minister in the protest.
Special Assistant for Information Shafi Jan strongly condemned the incident, terming the refusal a clear violation of the Constitution and law, as well as an affront to the office of the chief minister. He said the sit-in was a direct message to the Punjab government and a sign of complete distrust in its conduct.

Shafi Jan added that keeping Imran Khan in solitary confinement was unacceptable, and the refusal to allow a meeting had intensified serious concerns.
He declared the attitude of the jail administration and the Punjab government illegal, condemnable, and contrary to democratic norms, accusing them of imposing political restrictions for partisan reasons.
He further alleged that the situation reflected political fear and anxiety regarding Imran Khan. Meanwhile, police and the district administration have yet to issue any formal statement on the matter.
