A powerful cloudburst in Bajaur’s Salarzai tehsil triggered flash floods and landslides in the village of Jabraai, causing widespread devastation. The floods left nine people dead and four injured after they were buried under debris, while around 17 individuals are still reported missing. Rescue 1122 confirmed that two of the injured are in critical condition and have been shifted to Khar Hospital.
Rescue operations have been underway since 1 a.m. under the supervision of District Emergency Officer Amjad Khan, Deputy Commissioner Shahid Ali, and Assistant Commissioner Khar Dr. Sadiq Ali. Teams, assisted by local residents, are working around the clock to retrieve bodies and evacuate survivors.

The impact of heavy rains has also been felt in other parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. In Mansehra’s Baisiyan area, a flash flood swept away a vehicle carrying six people. Three passengers were rescued alive, two lost their lives, and one sustained injuries and was shifted to the hospital.
Meanwhile, authorities have issued alerts over rising water levels in major rivers. The flow in the Swat River at Khwazakhela has reached 60,000 cusecs, while the Panjkora River in Lower Dir recorded 46,000 cusecs. In Charsadda, residents have been advised to move to higher ground amid fears of flooding in low-lying areas.
