Charsadda: Progress has been made in the murder case of former JUI MPA and renowned religious scholar Maulana Sheikh Idris, who was killed on May 5. According to police, 7 suspects have been arrested so far, and interrogation is underway.

Investigating officials say geo-fencing is being carried out in different areas of Peshawar, Charsadda, and Nowshera to trace suspects and track their movements.

CCTV footage shows a man in the Chamkani area of Peshawar and on Kohat Road. Officials say the suspected attacker traveled on a motorcycle from Chamkani via the service road and reached Charsadda around 5:30 am, after which he fled. A video of the suspect has also surfaced and is being reviewed.

Authorities added that the investigation team, including the Safe City unit and other relevant agencies, is working to gather further details.

It is worth mentioning that on May 5, unidentified armed men opened fire in the Tangi area of Charsadda, killing Maulana Sheikh Idris.
