A video allegedly showing violence against a girl in Domel tehsil of Bannu has gone viral on social media. In the video, several armed men can be seen detaining the girl, locking her inside a room, and subjecting her to violence. The footage was later shared online.
Local residents say the girl’s name is Jamshida, who is popularly known in the area as “Chhota.” According to them, she roams around wearing boys’ clothes as a matter of personal preference.
In the video, the girl is forced to apologize while being beaten and is made to promise that she will not go out wearing boys’ clothing again, as it is being described as against local traditions. After the video surfaced, strong reactions emerged on social media, with many calling the act illegal and un-Islamic.

Domel Police SHO Ismatullah Khan said that an investigation into the incident has been launched. Police are searching for the armed men involved, while efforts are also being made to ensure the safety of the affected girl. Raids are being carried out in the area following the incident.
According to police officials, the girl, Jamshida, is currently safe and all aspects of the incident are being investigated.
A resident of Domel and political and social figure, Saud Ihsan, condemned the incident, saying that the girl roams around in boys’ clothing out of personal preference, and no one has the right to assault her on that basis.
He said that such actions by armed individuals are a clear violation of basic human rights and women’s rights. He added that young people, especially women, are increasingly facing such incidents in the area.
He further said that the government should take immediate steps to prevent such incidents. At times, young men are also detained and subjected to violence, which is against human rights.
According to Saud Ihsan, there are households in Domel with very few family members or with no one available to support them. In some cases, women wear men’s clothing and work outside to financially support their families and manage household responsibilities.
He added that incidents of human rights violations in Domel have increased in recent months. Young people are sometimes detained and tortured, while at other times women and political or social activists become targets. In Pashtun society, violence against women in such a manner is not only immoral but also a criminal offense.
Political and social figures have described the Domel incident as an act of cruelty and brutality. In the viral video, the girl can be heard saying that she leaves the house due to necessity because her father is ill. She repeatedly pleads to be released and asks the men not to harm her.
Meanwhile, various claims are also circulating on social media regarding the incident. Some individuals allege that the girl had run away from home and was seen roaming in cars with young men, after which her family informed the armed individuals. However, no official statement from the girl’s parents has yet come forward.
Local residents say that jirgas have also been held to address such incidents and that the government has been urged to ensure the rule of law in the area and prevent similar incidents in the future.
