A late-night militant attack on the Ahmadzai Police Station was successfully repelled after police personnel mounted a swift and determined response, officials said on Friday. Five policemen sustained minor injuries during the exchange of fire and were immediately provided medical treatment.
According to police, the attackers launched a sudden assault from all four directions, using both light and heavy weapons in an attempt to overrun the station. The militants opened fierce fire without warning, aiming to inflict maximum damage and force their way inside. The policemen on duty, however, retaliated instantly, holding their positions and preventing any breach of the building.
Upon receiving information about the attack, reinforcements from nearby units, including those from Domel, and Town Police Station rushed to the area. Security forces also arrived within minutes, after which a coordinated joint operation was initiated to drive back the militants and secure the perimeter.

Officials said the attackers suffered significant casualties during the encounter, though the exact number could not be independently verified. The joint force’s decisive counteroffensive forced the militants to retreat, leaving the attempted assault fully foiled.
Police praised the courage and timely action of the personnel who stood firm under heavy fire, noting that the rapid arrival of reinforcements played a crucial role in preventing the situation from worsening.
A search operation was launched in the surrounding areas to track down the fleeing militants. Authorities said efforts are underway to identify the group behind the attack and determine whether it is linked to recent militant activity in the region.
Security in and around the area has been further tightened, and police have vowed to continue operations against militants attempting to destabilise the district.
