Amid escalating security concerns and recurring attacks on security forces in Bannu, RPO Sajad Khan convened an important jirga with elders of the Momand Khel and Mamash Khel tribes to discuss the deteriorating situation and chart a way forward.
During the meeting, community elders expressed deep concern over official directives calling for the cutting of orchards and demolition of two-storey houses, saying such actions were causing fear and hardship among local residents.
DIG Sajad Khan told the jirga that intermittent attacks on security forces from both areas had created an atmosphere of uncertainty. He stressed that local residents must make a clear and collective commitment that no attack would be allowed from their territory, warning that the actions of a single individual could bring consequences for the entire community.

He proposed forming peace committees and convening a grand jirga to strengthen local coordination for maintaining law and order.
The elders reiterated their strong resolve for peace, saying that the people desired stability more than anyone else and would continue holding jirgas to guide communities toward harmony.
Chairman Masoom Wazir Advocate voiced objections over the removal of orchards and demolition of mud houses, saying these assets were the primary source of livelihood for families, and such pressure was causing severe difficulties for the population.
The jirga also witnessed protest over the killing of four civilians during the Poinda Khel Domel operation, with participants demanding a compensation package for the deceased.
