Another polio case has emerged in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The polio laboratory of the National Institute of Health (NIH) has confirmed a new polio case in the province, which has also been verified by the Health Department.

According to the Health Department, the case was reported from Union Council Spinwam in North Waziristan district, where polio virus was confirmed in a four-month-old baby girl. Officials stated that this case was reported to the polio laboratory in December last year.

The Health Department further said that this is the fifth polio case reported from North Waziristan last year. With this new case, the total number of polio cases in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during 2025 has reached 20.

According to statistics, five cases have been reported from North Waziristan, four each from Lakki Marwat and Tank, three from Bannu, two from Torghar, and one each from Dera Ismail Khan and Lower Kohistan. Meanwhile, the total number of polio cases across Pakistan has reached 31.

On the other hand, an NEOC spokesperson said that the nationwide anti-polio campaign will be conducted across the country from February 2 to February 8.
