A jirga of Adam Kor elders was held in the Kotatarp area of Ambar tehsil, where tribal elders announced their full support for the renewal of Haji Siraj Khan’s nephrite mine lease. The gathering also expressed gratitude to Haji Siraj Khan for approving a cash grant of Rs15 million and a solar water supply scheme for the community.

The jirga, held at the hujra of Malik Haji Gul Faraz Khan, was attended by elders from all sub-tribes of the area, local residents, and representatives of Haji Siraj Khan Group of Companies. Prominent speakers included Maulana Gulab Noor, Malik Syed Wali Shah, Malik Sarwar Khan, Dr Gul, Mukhtiar Khan, and Imdad Jan.

Speakers said that in 2014, Haji Siraj Khan had signed an agreement with the tribe for nephrite mining over 300 acres of land, which boosted mineral investment and job opportunities in the region. Following the merger of the tribal areas, the lease was renewed under the provincial minerals policy, dividing it into 50-acre segments, a process that faced no objection from the community.

They added that certain individuals were spreading misinformation on social media to create controversy over the lease, which was against the community’s interests and employment prospects. The elders reaffirmed their full cooperation with Haji Siraj Khan and his companies, pledging not to let anyone hinder the area’s development.

At the end of the jirga, participants thanked Haji Siraj Khan for announcing Rs15 million in cash for the tribe and approving a solar dug-well water supply scheme for the local bazaar. The jirga unanimously endorsed the decision to renew the mining lease.
